Saraswati Vidyalaya Union had its humble beginning in 1918 when a few enthusiastic South Indian ladies came forward to impart free education to the children of the South Indian Community. Presently, Saraswati Vidyalaya Union is a Charitable Trust under the Societies Registration Act and Charitable Trust Act.
Our motto “Vidya Amrutam Ashnuthey” thoughtfully chosen from the Yajurveda, relatively encompasses our vision and crest which means; “Development of knowledge is the base of eternal happiness”. It kindles the quest for knowledge and serves as an inspirational ideology to achieve the purpose of S.V.Union.

Our History
The S. V. Union Tamil Medium Primary School Existed Since 1919 and we marched towards starting of Pre-Primary and Primary English Medium in the year 1969. We started the English Medium in 1969 with handful of students (being 5) in an old Nathu Wada at Somwar peth, Where the Tamil Medium already existed.
We have a 300 years old Shiva Temple in the Nathu Wada. We constructed the new building and also ensured the archaeological value of the age old Shiva Temple which appears pre dominantly in the primary school building. Regular poojas are being held to Lord Shiva for getting Peace and Prosperity to the society.
Even though we have achieved, a lot more can still be done. Excellence in every field shall be our Goal. We are thankful to all the well wishers who are instrumental in elevating this institution as one amongst the best in Pune.
